Of G-d's many unfathomable attributes, there is one which we can surely comprehend. His desire to walk among us is unwavering. He longs to be with us every moment of our lives - to lovingly guide us in His paths - not to restrict us, as we've come to understand restriction, but to protect and provide for us. This desire consumes Him and it always has - so much so, that He gave up absolutely everything that He is, as incalculable as that may be, to take on our form, our frailty, and fellowship with us face to face. He chose to reduce and restrict Himself so that we might be increased and given liberty. Liberty from slavery (physically and spiritually), liberty from not knowing the One who created us, liberty from a future void of mercy, from a destiny without promises, and from a life without hope.
In all G-d's wisdom, the best way He knew to illustrate His incredible love for us was to physically enter our dimension encased in our mortal shell, to walk among us, challenge us, teach us, heal us, and then, subject Himself to mockery from our ignorant mouths and torment from our darkened hearts and murderous hands - only to defy even death itself. He overcame the sentence we gave to Him in order to obliterate the sentence we brought upon ourselves. In so doing, He, who knew no sin, made a way (the only way) for us, the ignorant murderers, to be redeemed - to be brought back to Him - to walk with Him once more. While we can be certain of its occurrence, the magnitude of this event cannot truly be comprehended.
G-d's desire to dwell with us was not affected by our disobedience. In fact, to an extent, our rebellion seems to have only strengthened His desire to love us (at least, to express it) and to physically walk alongside us. This is love. It is the most intense and true love in our entire reality. However, because He is the Holy One, the cause of all existence, drawing near to us is on His terms. He has marvelously accomplished all that He had set out to do. Now, we need only to turn toward Him, acknowledging His desire to love us and repent of our separation - agreeing that His way is best and accepting the redemption He has gone through unimaginably great pains to provide for us - rescuing us by His own hand, a hand that looks much like your own.
